Program Description

BSU: International Student Teacher Placement (6 Credits)

Check out the BSU International Teach Blog (https://bsuteaches.edublogs.org/) to learn about the placement locations, and read reflections from fellow students.

To be considered for an International Student Teaching Placement, students must:
1) Meet all requirements (coursework, GPA, and MTELs) for student teaching and apply to your department – note that different departments have different deadlines for applications – deadlines are critical!
2) Meet with Dr. MacMillan or Dr. Marvelle in the College of Education to discuss the teacher placement opportunities.
3) Accepted students will need to complete and follow BSU Study Abroad enrollment forms and policies.

Applications will be reviewed by the College of Education and Allied Studies and a limited number of candidates will be offered the opportunity to participate in this experience.

Each placement location is unique. Housing, meals, living circumstances and costs vary per location. Please refer to the Teachers Blog and program sheets for more information.

Spring 2020 Teacher Placement Locations include:
- Ambergris Caye or Caye Caulker, Belize: local Prek- 12 local schools.

- Shanghai, China: Tianshan Primary School or Honqiao Middle School English speaking school, associated with the Shanghai Normal University.

- Manchester, England: The Disbury School (N-6th grade), associated with Manchester Metropolitan University.

- Dublin, Ireland: Local schools (K-6), associated with the Marino Institute of Education.

- Quito, Ecuador: Colegio Menor, N-12 English speaking international school.

- Zurich, Switzerland: Local schools (N-6), associated with Zurich University of Teacher Education.
